Dr. James S. Gaynor, DVM, MS, DACVAA, is a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist with over 30 years in clinical practice, pain management and research. He trained at The Ohio State University, taught at Colorado State University, and still treats patients, runs clinical trials and publishes papers. He founded Peak Therapeutics in 2017, with his family, because he could not find a CBD product he trusted for his own patients.

“We have been using Peak Therapeutics Hemp Extract (Green Label) for about 6 weeks now and the difference in our dog’s energy levels is unbelievable. Our pups will be 9 in Jan and they are outside running around and wrestling like they did when they were puppies. Our CBD is formulated by a board-certified veterinary specialist and tested by an ISO 17025 lab for potency, pesticides, heavy metals, solvents and microbes. Side effects are uncommon; mild drowsiness can occur and usually resolves by lowering the dose.
Will CBD make my pet high?
No. All our products are hemp-derived with less than 0.3% THC, so an intoxicating effect is very unlikely.
What does full spectrum mean?
Full spectrum means the extract keeps CBD plus other natural cannabinoids and terpenes from the hemp plant. We use CO2 extraction, with no ethanol or chemical solvents.
How much CBD should I give my pet?
Dosing depends on your pet's weight and the product. Every bottle ships with a dosing chart, and our dosing guides for cats, small dogs and large dogs are free online.
How long does it take to work?
Some pets respond within an hour, but the full effect usually builds over 14 to 21 days of daily use.
Can I give CBD with my pet's other medications?
Interactions are rare at our recommended doses, but pets on opioids or some anticonvulsants may become drowsy. Always check with your veterinarian first.
